Love Island: Harriet cries after heated conversation with Ciaran

Love Island viewers are convinced they've rumbled the real reason for the villa's drama.

On Friday's episode, the villa descended into chaos as several Islanders found themselves in a feud thanks to a love triangle between Ciaran Davies, Nicole Samuel and Harriett Blackmore. During the episode, Harriet told bombshell Joey Essex over Ciaran: "He’s the one who doesn’t know what he wants. I don’t really understand what to do to make his mind up - I don’t know where his heads at."

To which Joey pointed out: "I think it’s quite obvious he likes Nicole, no?" yet Harriett was confused as she responded: "Well he hasn’t said that to me." This prompted Joey to reveal: "I swear when we was in the bedroom he was chanting Nicole’s name", adding: "I feel like you need to get to know others and spread your wings a bit..."

Harriett was left stunned over the revelation as Joey then declared: "Shall we ask him right now?" Ciaran then joined the conversation and in front of Harriett, Joey asked him: "Who do you like more? Do you like Nicole?" to which Harriett interjected with: "Did you tell the boys in the changing room, Nicole?" with Ciaran admitting: "Yeah I did."

Shortly after, Ciaran was speaking with some of the Islanders at the fire pit and asked: "Who told Harriett this?" with Joey admitting: "I had to!" Ciaran then declared: "I was going to tell her. I would have rather gone up to her and said ‘I need to talk to you’" with Joey pointing out: "Well, you’ve done it now" to which Ciaran said: "Yeah but I didn’t want to do it like that mate" with Joey adding: "Well, you did."

Meanwhile, Harriett was annoyed with the revelations and said to the girls: "Girls, can we go to the dressing room? Now." Speaking to Patsy and Uma, Harriett said: "I can’t believe how he spoke to me." Nicole entered to check on Harriett but Harriett shouted: "Genuinely, have him!" Encouraging Harriett to speak to Ciaran, Patsy said: "We’re not going to let them get away with this..." to which Harriett headed downstairs and told Ciaran exactly how she felt as the rest of the Islanders watched on from the kitchen.

However, Jess and Samantha were quick to tell Harriett some of their fellow Islanders may have encouraged her reaction. Jess said: "They shouldn’t have wound you up to do that because you’re a classy girl" while Samantha added: "People in here are saying ‘I love the fact she’s done that’. They love the fact that you’ve gone over and kicked off. And I don’t think your friends should be saying that. I think people like drama."

The next morning, Harriett was speaking with Patsy when she said: "Jess was like whoever told you to do that is not your friend" to which Patsy declared: "Shut up!" Later, Patsy admitted she was 'p****d off' to which she found herself arguing with Jess over her comments. Taking to Twitter, now X, viewers pointed out that the real reason for the feuding was down to the increase in yellow beanbags at the villa.

Love Island 2024 has begun. Boots has launched a new collab covering everything you need for villa life, with must-haves ranging from fragrance to skincare plus essential beauty gadgets.

It comes as the 2022 summer contestants revealed that they had been avoiding a particular seat in the villa as they all thought that the yellow beanbag was "cursed" and brings bad luck. Explaining the theory in the Beach Hut, previous 2022 Islander Tasha Ghouri said at the time: "That yellow beanbag, there is a very proven fact that it does bring drama every time someone sits on it... it happens. So obviously if you want to go sit on it, I wish you well, but you've basically brought it on yourself because the drama happens. So... it's obviously a proven fact."

With more yellow beanbags than ever this year, one person said: "Anyone notice there’s only yellow bean bags this season. The cursed yellow bean bags #LoveIsland", a different account put: "Has anyone noticed how all the beanbags are yellow #loveisland", another wrote: "oh i get why its been so unlucky this year… EVERYTHING IS YELLOW #loveIsland", a different viewer put: "I’m convinced that the reason there’s so much drama this year is because there are only yellow bean bags, the curse is back #loveIsland" while another added: "The producers wanted drama this season so only put YELLOW beanbags #loveIsland."

Love Island continues every night at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV X. *Follow Mirror Celebs and TV on Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Threads.
